1 Police Killed and Hundreds of Demonstrators Wounded in Rioting Demonstrations in Lebanon
As reported by AFP on Sunday (9/8/2020), a policeman was said to have died. This was conveyed by the police through their twitter account.
"A member of the internal security forces died while ... helping people trapped inside the Le Gray hotel," the police tweeted without providing additional details.
The incident came after a group led by retired Lebanese soldiers stormed the Foreign Ministry calling it the "Revolutionary Headquarters".
The Lebanese Red Cross said it had brought 63 demonstrators to a nearby hospital. In addition, 175 people were treated at the location without identifying their identities.
It is known that demonstrators flooded the streets of Beirut on Saturday (8/8). They protested the impact of the deadly explosion on Tuesday (4/8) which had an impact on the crisis in society.(aik / aik)
