Britain Opens Entrance without Quarantine for 59 Countries, What about Indonesia?
Jakarta - After the European Union, the British government has now released a list of countries that can enter the country without quarantine. The United States (US), Canada and Portugal are not included in the list of 59 countries that are allowed to enter without quarantine to England.
This policy follows the European Union's decision to remove the US from the list of countries that are allowed to enter EU member states. Then what about Indonesia?
Unfortunately, Indonesia is also not on the list. As reported by CNN, July 3, 2020, the rules without quarantine for citizens of 59 countries were put into effect starting July 10, 2020.
The British Ministry of Transport explained that arrivals from 59 countries, including France, Germany, Italy and Spain, no longer need to undergo quarantine 14 days on arrival as previously stipulated.
"The government believes that it is now safe to relax [lockdown] measures in the UK and the government has introduced travel corridors for several countries and regions. This applies to all trips to the UK by air, train, ferry or other routes, "explained the UK Minister for Transport, Grant Shapps.
Not only Indonesia, neighboring countries such as Malaysia and Singapore are also not included in the list. Vietnam is the only Southeast Asian country to be freed from quarantine rules by Britain .
In addition, the British Government is predicted to include the US as a "red list" tourist destination, because it is considered to have a very high infection rate. That way, immigrants from the US must be quarantined for 14 days when entering England.
"Here, we can control everything, but we know that (the virus) is still spreading in several countries. So, I'm afraid there is a red list," continued Grant Shapps.
The US is the country with the highest number of Covid-19 corona pandemic cases and the highest deaths in the world. As of this writing, in the US there have been more than 2.93 million confirmed cases and more than 132 thousand deaths, according to figures from Johns Hopkins University.
