, Jakarta - The draw for the Champions League group stage will take place on October 1. Later, 32 teams will be divided into 8 groups that will start competing on October 20.

Of the 32 places, only 26 places are filled while the other six places still have to be determined from the qualifying round.

Spanish media Sport said Barelona would be one of eight teams in the second pot. Barcelona evicted from pot one because Spain already has two representatives in the first pot.

The two representatives are Real Madrid, who won the Spanish League and Sevilla, who won the Europa League last season.

Apart from Barcelona, the second pot will be filled by Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Ajax Amsterdam and Atletico Madrid.

The following is the distribution of the 2020-2021 Champions League lottery pots

Pot 1: Bayern Munchen, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Juventus, PSG, Zenit St Petersburg and Porto.

Pot 2: Bayern Munchen , Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Ajax Amsterdam, Shakhtar Donetsk

The third and fourth pots are yet to be determined. The determination of the team in this pot will be determined after the qualifying rounds finish at the end of this month.

For the time being, there are 10 teams who are confirmed to be in the third and fourth pots. The ten teams are: RB Leipzig, Inter Milan, Lazio, Atalanta, Lokomotiv Moscow, Olympique Marseille, Club Brugge, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Instanbul Basaksehir and Rennes.

The other six places are still up for grabs in the qualifying round. Olympiakos, RB Salzburg, Slavia Praha and Molde have a great chance of winning four positions through the championship route while the other two places will be won by Krasnorad vs PAOK and Gent vs Dynamo Kyiv.

With such a composition, this season's Champions League group stage will certainly be interesting. This is because a number of big teams will meet each other from the start.

This season's Champions League draw will take place at UEFA headquarters, Nyon, Switzerland. There is no word yet on whether the draw will be conducted virtually or if it will continue normally.
