Not only were they killed, the two of them even mutilated the victim's corpse into 11 pieces.

To the police, the two suspects confessed to killing Rinaldi in an apartment in the Pasar Baru area, Central Jakarta on September 9, 2020. Initially, the victim knew Laeli from an online dating application, namely Tinder.

After communicating online, the two agreed to meet at the apartment. The two suspects had previously rented an apartment for 6 days, from 7 to 12 September 2020.

When Rinaldi and Laeli entered the apartment on September 9, 2020, the suspect Fajri was already inside and hiding in the bathroom. After Rinaldi and Laeli talked and had intercourse, Fajri hit the victim's head three times with stones. He also stabbed Rinaldi 7 times.

The mutilation was carried out after the two suspects were shopping for machetes and chainsaws. They cut the victim into 11 pieces and stored them in plastic bags. After that, the pieces of the victim's body were put into a suitcase and backpack. The two suspects then moved the pieces of the victim's body to the Kalibata City Apartments. The victim's money in the account was then drained by the two suspects.

The two were then arrested by police at Permata Cimanggis Housing Complex, Depok on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. The police tracked them down after using the proceeds from the crime to shop for gold, motorbikes and rent a house.

The police charged the two mutilated suspects of Kalibata City with Article 340 and Articles 338 and 365 of the Criminal Code (KUHP). Both are threatened with a maximum sentence of death or life imprisonment.
