, Jakarta - Epidemiologist from Griffith University, Dicky Budiman, explained that there are three indicators to measure the effectiveness of Large-Scale Social Restrictions or PSBB . The first indicator is time. According to him, the determination of the PSBB should not be too late, but also not too soon.

"Because both of them are not good in terms of socio-economic losses as well as their effectiveness," he said when contacted, Wednesday, September 16, 2020.

If it is too late, Dicky estimates that the patient mortality rate and the burden on the hospital will be even higher. The DKI government, which chose to tighten the PSBB again starting September 14, 2020, is considered appropriate.

The second indicator, the PSBB dose. There are three doses, namely total, transitional, or compromise. The current Jakarta PSBB, he continued, was running at a compromise. This is because offices are still allowed to operate with a maximum number of people at 25 percent of capacity.

Dicky said, the DKI government should set a total PSBB with a policy of 100 percent of employees working from home. However, the same PSBB must also be followed by a buffer zone.

"Of course the total dose is good. The period of taking the drug should be 500 mg, only 250," he explained.

Third, the duration of taking medication, in this context the length of time the PSBB is enforced. He considered that the PSBB must run for at least a month. Just two weeks will not cure the Covid-19 pandemic .

"It will not reduce symptoms that are already serious like this," he said. "My formula can be applied in all regions, not only Jakarta."

Jakarta officially tightens the PSBB starting September 14 2020. This is because the number of Covid-19 patients continues to increase, even more than a thousand new cases per day can be added.

Tightening has an impact on the closure of recreation areas, the number of people in the office to a maximum of 25 percent of capacity, odd-even numbers, restrictions on public transportation, and others.
