Government Prepares Emergency Social Security Fund at BPJS Health
, Jakarta -Director General of Budget, Ministry of Finance, Askolani, explained that the government is preparing to establish a social security contingency fund. The fund will protect the administration of National Health Insurance by the Social Security Administering Body or BPJS Health from an emergency, for example if a deficit occurs again, which will end at the end of this year.
"It is being prepared across ministries and institutions for the regulation. Later, when the regulations are ready, then the funding needs are calculated, according to the mechanism," Askolani told Bisnis , Wednesday, October 21, 2020.
The emergency funds will come from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) and be stored for the JKN emergency needs. However, the amount of the fund allocation will only be determined after the relevant regulations are in place.
According to him, after the basic regulations related to contingency funds are formed, the government will compile or harmonize other related regulations. This is done so that the implementation of JKN by the Health Social Security Administering Body (BPJS) has a strong sustainability.
"We will monitor and follow the preparation of regulations that must be made next," said Askolani.
Member of the National Social Security Council (DJSN) Muttaqien considered that the existence of contingency funds was needed in the event risk social security scheme. The funds can also be an important pillar in strengthening JKN going forward.
