Juventus Officially Appoints Andrea Pirlo To Replace Maurizio Sarri

Juventus officially appoints Andrea Pirlo to replace Maurizio Sarri

Andrea Pirlo, AC Milan, Retired

Jakarta - Juventus moved quickly to appoint a replacement for Maurizio Sarri in the coaching chair. Only a few hours after expelling Sarri, the Bianconeri officially appointed Andrea Pirlo as his replacement on Sunday (9/8/2020) in the morning WIB.

As reported by the BBC , Andrea Pirlo , who is now 41 years old, signed a contract as Juventus coach with a duration of two years. He is bound in Turin until June 2022.

Andrea Pirlo's name was widely sticking out as one of the strongest candidates just moments after Sarri was fired. Pirlo was recently asked to become coach of Juventus U-23, to be precise on July 30.

However, not even 10 days into carrying out his new assignment, Pirlo got even more trust. The Juventus legend is now trusted to handle the senior team with a bigger responsibility.

Juventus fired Sarri on Saturday (8/8/2020) after being knocked out of the last 16 of the 2019/2020 Champions League because of losing away goal productivity to Lyon after a 2-2 draw on aggregate.

Apart from Pirlo, Simone Inzaghi also appeared as one of the many candidates to fill Sarri's position. The Lazio coach has been linked with Juventus since last season.

It's just that, it's not easy for Juventus to hijack Inzaghi from Lazio. The Bianconeri must agree with the team nicknamed the Biancoceleste, with an estimated compensation to redeem their contract.

Another name that came up was Andrea Pirlo. Juventus clearly has no trouble persuading him, it remains only to promote him from the Juventus U-23 team to handle the first team.
