SIDOARJO - The Covid-19 pandemic brought luck for Rubi Hardianto, a resident of Tenggulunan Village, Candi District, Sidoarjo, East Java, who used his spare time to look for water fleas for ornamental fish feed.
From the results of hunting for water fleas that he has been doing for about 4 months, Rubi can make a profit of up to IDR 200 thousand per day.
Rubi, who works as a mechanic every day, sells his water fleas starting from IDR 5,000 per teaspoon to IDR 50,000 per glass. In a day, he is able to earn IDR 150,000 to IDR 200,000 per day which he sells through social media.
Using simple tools such as nets and buckets, Rubi walked along the rivers around his residence to get the water fleas.
He started this job since his job as a mechanic was quiet and there were many fans to ornamental fish farmers today.
"Especially betta fish during the Covid-19 pandemic, which has increased the demand for water fleas as ornamental fish feed," said Rubi Hardianto, Sunday (18/10/2020).
However, he admitted that it is still difficult to meet the demand for water fleas that are hunted by ornamental fish enthusiasts and breeders as good food for these ornamental fish.
