Raids Masks in Palmerah Pluis Market, Dozens of Residents Get Sanctioned

Jakarta - As many as 23 unskilled citizens in the Pluis Emergency Market, Palmerah, West Jakarta were subjected to sanctions in the form of social work by the Covid-19 Task Force for Palmerah Sub - District, Tuesday, 4 August 2020.

"We told the residents to clean the waterways and sweep the streets around the market," said Palmerah village chief Muchammad Ilham in Jakarta, as quoted by Antara .

Those who undergo sanctions are market visitors and motorists who cross the market area. However, he said, only a portion of those netted by the authorities chose to pay fines.

Ilham said that the supervision activities on the use of masks in the market were continuously carried out, considering that the market was an area prone to the spread of Covid-19 .

"This is part of shock therapy so that they can be deterred and can then obey and understand the rules regarding the obligation to use masks," he said.

Enforcement of Governor Regulation number 51 year 2020 regarding the implementation of the PSBB transitional period involves three pillar elements including Palmerah Village and UIN students who are undergoing a Real Work Lecture (KKN).
