Surabaya Criminal Week: East Java Regional Police Arrests Two Hackers of Jember KPU Official Website

Jakarta - For a week, police in Surabaya and other areas in East Java have uncovered cases of murder, hacking of official websites, theft, prostitution and circulation of counterfeit money.

One of them has attracted attention this week regarding the hacking of the official website or the Jember KPU page. The East Java Regional Police arrested two perpetrators of hacking the official website of the Jember KPU. The two people with the initials ZA, a resident of South Sumatra and one perpetrator with the initials ZFR were not detained because they were minors.

"The two perpetrators were secured along with evidence related to the hacking of the Jember Regency KPU site," said Head of Public Relations of the East Java Regional Police, Kombes Pol Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, Tuesday, October 13, 2020.

The arrest of the two hackers was after the Jember KPU reported its official website https://kab-jember.kpu.go.id to the police.

"The head of the Jember KPU, Muhammad Syaiin, immediately reported the hacking of the KPU's official website to the Jember Police on Wednesday morning," said Jember KPU member Andi Wasis, as quoted from Antara, written on Thursday, October 8, 2020.

In addition to the KPU Jember website hacking case, the Mojokerto police arrested a resident of Mojokerto Regency with the initials Mn (51) who was determined to circulate counterfeit money. He admitted that he was determined to circulate counterfeit money because he was tempted by the gecko business.

Kasatreskrim Polres Mojokerto City AKP Rohmawati Lailah said, the perpetrator was invited and tempted by the lure promised by his friend whose initials Si. Previously, Si had been arrested by the Surabaya Police.
