, Melbourne - The second most affected nation in Australia, Victoria , declared the status of the disaster on Sunday, August 2, 2020 related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Victoria Authority announced the application of a curfew to the Capital City of Melbourne as the most stringent restrictions at present to prevent further spread of Covid-19 or the Corona virus.

Premier Victoria, Daniel Andrews, said the previous rules succeeded in preventing the emergence of new Covid-19 cases every day.

It also managed to prevent the emergence of thousands of new Covid-19 patients.

"But this rule does not have an impact fast enough," Andrews said as reported by Reuters on Sunday, August 2, 2020.

Authorities announced the number of new cases of Covid-19 daily was 671, which was one of the highest. There are 7 people died.

In fact, the government has implemented a lockdown rule for Melbourne for six weeks until August 8. However, the government seems overwhelmed to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic with the number of new cases continuing to grow.

Covid-19 pandemic or Corona virus spread from Wuhan City, central China since December 2019 as reported by CNN . This outbreak has spread to various parts of the world with a number of cases reaching around 17.85 million cases and more 683 thousand cases of death.
