UTBK SBMPTN, Two Locations in Jakarta Wait for Covid-19 Task Force License
, Bandung - Covid-19 Pandemic forced various changes in the implementation of the Computer-Based Writing Examination ( UTBK ) pathway for the Joint Selection of State Universities (SBMPTN) 2020. According to the Chair of the Executive Board of Higher Education Entrance Tests (LTMPT) Budi Prasetyo Widyobroto, the committee including must adjust the location of the test with local government policy and the status of the corona virus outbreak in the region.
"Regional status varies, some are red, yellow, so in our protocol the implementation of the UTBK must obtain permission from the regional Covid Task Force," he told Tempo, Tuesday 30 June 2020.
From the official LTMPT website, UTBK locations are recorded in 74 universities from Aceh to Merauke. One of them is Surabaya State University (Unesa) which has been confirmed to be canceled as the center of the UTBK and participants will be relocated to Airlangga University (Airlangga University) and the Sepuluh November Institute of Technology (ITS).
All three are in the city of Surabaya, East Java, which until now still records the findings of the highest number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia, but Budi said, "If in Unair and ITS already obtained permits from the regional Covid-19 Task Force."
So far the committee is still trying to get a permit for a similar problem from the Covid-19 Task Force for UTBK at the University of Indonesia and Jakarta State University. "The question is, if it does not come out (permission), then we will think again," he said.
The impact is if the Covid-19 Task Force is not permitted, there will be another change for participants who have been allocated a place and time for examinations at the two universities, such as in Unesa. According to Budi, the LTMPT committee did not have special authority to hold UTBK in the regions during this pandemic. "We cannot intervene to take precedence," he said.
On the other hand, the screening of new students must be done immediately because the Ministry of Education and Culture has established a new school year for lectures on state campuses starting in August 2020. Among them, the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation stipulates the selection of a third path or an independent pathway that can be done after the UTBK SBMPTN. "That adds to all the complexity, conditions please understand because it's really an emergency."
The number of UTBK participants, until the close of registration on June 20, totaled 702,927 people. They are now required to reprint their test cards after the committee relocates the time and place of the test. From the initial four sessions, the exam time was changed to two sessions per day. While the UTBK schedule is set for two waves: July 5-14 and July 20-29 2020.
