Watch out, there has been a surge in positive cases of Covid-19 in North Sulawesi
Manado - North Sulawesi residents are asked to remain vigilant about the spread of Covid-19. Data from the Covid-19 Task Force shows that there has been a surge in new cases in the last two days.
"We need to be aware of the number of cases that have continued to increase in recent days, the implementation of health protocols is the key to preventing this pandemic," said Dr Steaven Dandel, spokesman for the Covid-19 Task Force for North Sulawesi Province, Saturday (17/10/2020).
Dandel reported that there were an additional 29 new positive cases of Covid-19 in North Sulawesi, bringing the accumulated number to 4,959 cases. The day before, 62 new cases were detected. In the last two days, there were 91 new cases.
"The 29 new cases were spread in Manado, Bitung, Minahasa, North Minahasa, Kotamobagu and Sangihe Islands," he said.
Of the total number of 4,959 positive cases, 590 were included in active cases or 11.9 percent. The number of active cases continues to decline, inversely proportional to the growing number of cured cases.
"We hope that more and more patients will be declared cured of Covid-19," he said.
For cases of recovered Covid-19 in North Sulawesi, it increased by 41 people, with an accumulated number of 4,181 people. These recovered cases came from Minahasa, Manado, South Bolmong, Southeast Minahasa, Kotamobagu, and Bitung.
"The cure rate for Covid-19 in North Sulawesi on October 17 2020 was 84.35 percent," said Dandel.
Whereas for cases of positive Covid-19 patients in North Sulawesi who died increased by 1 person, thus the accumulated number became 186 people.
